Let’s make a logo.
I had to design a logo in a day, for some contest promotion. I got lucky and it turned out okay.
Direction
I always say, send me some reference, so the guy sent me some apple stuff, and some retro images. I like old cameras. I collect them.
Reference
I googled some old 40’s print design and started some hacky illustration of a photographer. I wasn’t big on the illustration.
The Finished Logo
It accidentally came together, the retro theme, the circle thing, which I always like, and the eastern block font, courtesy of Lost Type Co-op.
I’m a writer living in Los Angeles, making emojis of faces I find on Instagram. When I get a moment, I paint portraits on canvases I build from reclaimed wood.
