The fighter.
I wanted to do a painting of a bruiser. I guess I found one.
BRAWN 2014
Oil and acrylic on wood | 18″ x 24″
The original painting was landscape-oriented, but I shuffled it to reshape the composition. The segmented parts gave more focus on the bruised eye and the breathless mouth. A shattered mosaic creating mini portraits of a boxer, quietly awaiting a points decision, moments after the fight.
I’m a writer living in Los Angeles, making emojis of faces I find on Instagram. When I get a moment, I paint portraits on canvases I build from reclaimed wood.
