I like the the idea of combining a couple into one painting. Two portraits in one.

I planned a series of paintings of couples and came across this photo of Justin and Chris walking the streets of NYC. They were wearing matching “Love is Love” tee shirts, and I thought, What better message is there?
I accidentally captured the dynamics of their relationship, with Chris’s brows flickering with disdain, as Justin’s smile calmly pacifying the moment. Chris was particularly fun to draw because his face is just so special. His illustration makes me laugh.
I’m a writer living in Los Angeles, making emojis of faces I find on Instagram. When I get a moment, I paint portraits on canvases I build from reclaimed wood.
