I didn’t know how accurate this portrait was going to be. I just thought I liked the spark plug. Turns out Todd is crazy about cars.

Todd is my boyfriend. I get to stare at his face a lot. I probably see what most people don’t, his endless thinking about science, family and tomorrow. I catch him in a quiet moment of thought, knowing that some of it is about me.
I’m a writer living in Los Angeles, making emojis of faces I find on Instagram. When I get a moment, I paint portraits on canvases I build from reclaimed wood.
