WILLIAMSBURG 2014
Oil and acrylic on wood | 24″ x 18″
I was fascinated with Williamsburg hipsters. How they were the first to adopt beards and ironic tattoos, paying an inordinate amount of rent to live in poetic squalor. This is a portrait of a man, perpetually chasing a moment in the near future where he can buy back the stuff he donated to the Salvation Army, because they are once again in style.

I’m a writer living in Los Angeles, making emojis of faces I find on Instagram. When I get a moment, I paint portraits on canvases I build from reclaimed wood.
